About the Area

Filey is a very popular small seaside town with a population of approximately seven thousand located between Scarborough and Bridlington on the North Yorkshire coast. Filey bay offers seven miles of sandy beach reaching from the rocky projection of the Brigg at the top to Bempton cliffs and bird santuary and Flamborough Head at the southern end. The North Yorkshire Moors and the historic city of York are within easy access of this part of the coast.

Hunmanby is a large village with a population of approximately three and a half thousand located just three miles inland from Filey and nine miles from both Scarborough and Bridlington. The village offers a wide range of shops, chemist, doctors' surgery and health centre, dentists, optician, library, community centre, Post Office, Primary School, two churches, a sports and social club together with both bus and train services.

Primrose Valley is a popular seaside hamlet forming part of Filey bay just three miles from Filey.

Reighton is a small hamlet just four miles from Filey and six miles from Bridlington.

Hunmanby Gap is a small hamlet just two miles from Hunmanby forming part of the coastline of Filey Bay.

Bempton is a small village approximately four miles from Bridlington and six miles from Filey located close to the famous bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs.

Foxholes is a small wolds village located on the main Scarborough to Driffield road.

Burton Fleming is a small wolds village convenient for Bridlington and Driffield.

Muston is a very popular rural hamlet just outside Filey and within easy commuting distance of Scarborough and Bridlington.

Gristhorpe is a small village lying just to the west of the A165 Scarborough to Bridlington road, approximately two miles from Filey.

Lebberston is a small hamlet adjacent to Gristhorpe lying just to the west of the A165 Scarborough to Bridlington road, approximately four miles from Filey and three miles from Scarborough.

Flixton is a small rural hamlet approximately five miles inland from Filey and within easy commuting distance of Scarborough and Bridlington.

Cayton is a large village located just to the south of Scarborough.

Seamer is located just off the main A64 Scarborough / York road, approximately three miles from Scarborough.

Wold Newton is a small picturesque village in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. The village has a primary school, public house and a church.  It is approximately 9 miles from Filey and 12 miles from Driffield.
